Before the Weekend: Kubrick Poetry Society

A friend invited me to the opening reception of an exhibition sponsored by the Kubrick Poetry Society called "If I Have Time."  The premise of this exhibition was:

1.  Four photographers were selected to take a photo of something they were inspired by

2.  Those four photos were then sent to a number of poets and poetry enthusiasts to be inspired by

3.  Those poets and poetry enthusiasts wrote poems inspired by those photographs

4.  The poems for the specific photographs were returned to the Kubrick Poetry Society

5.  The poems and photos were reassigned to another photographer (of the original four photographers)

6.  Those four photographers then took inspiration from their new photo and the poems to create a new photograph

The exhibition is currently being held at the The Coming Society bookshop in Wan Chai until July 31, 2014:

The Coming Society

Poetry displayed on the walls

Elaine Ng explaining her creative process

Maggie Chau's Time is burning in Palestine

Andrew S. Guthrie's work

Choi Sai Ho explaining his work

The opening reception was awesome because I got to see a lot of people that I hadn't seen for ages, got to nibble on some cheese and crackers, learned about the photographers' creative processes, heard poetry read by some amazing poets, read the wonderful poetry of other poets and experienced Choi Sai Ho's audio-visual artwork.  All-in-all...an amazingly inspiring night.
